Ballater and the surrounding hills have become a mecca for mountain bikers looking to explore Aberdeenshires growing network. With two dedicated bike shops in Ballater, equipment can be hired locally and trail maps are available in stores or online.


Holiday Cottages

Explore our two beautifully presented holiday cottages in the heart of Royal Deeside. Birkelunn is an original Norwegian log cabin that comfortably sleeps 11. Braehead Cottage has been recently refurbished and sleeps 8.


Gliding

The Deeside Gliding Club is just a couple of miles down the road and offers the chance to explore Royal Deeside from above. Try gliding for the first time or base yourself there for an unforgettable week of exploring the local sky.


DEer Stalking

There is a thriving population of Red and Roe deer in the surrounding woods and hills. To keep t he population healthy and in balance with their habitat, stalking opportunities are available through the year.


GOLF & Tennis

Enjoy golf at nearby 18 hole golf courses in Ballater and Aboyne, or venture further up the Dee and play at Braemar. Local Tennis facilities are available in Ballater.

Highland Games
